History

The church began in the early 1980’s as a group of believers who came together with a strong desire to study the Word of God. After meeting in various locations in the Motherwell District, the Lord directed us to our present building in 1999.
The Pastor/Teacher of the church is David Simpson, who has been with the fellowship since the beginning.

The primary emphasis of the ministry of our fellowship is to become rooted in God’s Word. The main teaching sessions are on Sunday morning, Sunday evening and Thursday evening and we particularly encourage attendance at these three main sessions to receive a balance of Old and New Testaments studies as we study the Bible verse by verse, chapter by chapter working our way through the entire Word of God. Also, of great importance to us is the freedom to worship God in the way which the Bible instructs. We believe in the free expression of worship to God as long as we remain within the realm of biblical experience. We particularly do not encourage any activity during worship that would direct someone’s attention away from the Lord and on to a person.

As a growing family church we seek to encourage times of fellowship and the development of loving, caring relationships with each other. We also have a heart for the lost and so are involved in reaching out to our community and further afield as the Lord directs.

It is therefore our desire that Calvary Motherwell should be a loving caring fellowship of believers, worshipping God in spirit and truth, holding to sound doctrine and reaching out to a lost world.
