Stories in December.

The first story title is: "Mary's Visitation"

The Bible Story comes from Luke 1 v 28-38 & Luke 2 v1-7

Week 2 Story Title is: "God Came to the Shepherds and Wise Men"

Shepherds are not highly regarded in society but they were the first to hear what God was doing. They would have been on the hills and wouldn't hear what was going on it the towns. But they got some exciting news in a very unusual way.

The Bible Story comes from Luke 2 v8-20

What was the shepherd's job?
Does he wear smart clothes? Why not?
Would he be smelly?
Who brought the good news?
What was it?
Who was it for?

Jesus' birth brought good news to the world. How do we hear news today?
When we read the Bible we find out God has given good news to people long ago.
God told Isaiah 900 years before Jesus was born that He would send a Saviour
God told Micah 700 years before Jesus was born, that He would be born in Bethlehem
The wise men came from the East. God comes to all people everywhere from far off lands. God wanted these people to know about Jesus too.
This Bible story comes from Matthew 2 v 1-12

What 2 things helped the wise men find Jesus?

They followed the star
Who made the stars?
The wise men followed the star to Israel but they had gone to capital city which is Jerusalem, they thought that was the obvious place to tind the King but that was where they met King Herod.
Who did the wise men say Jesus was?
King Herod was upset, why?

Jesus had been born 5 miles away in Bethlehem. Verse 6 tells us Jesus would be born in a village.
The message from Micah 5v2
They had read the message of Micah which also was their guide.
What did the wise men do when they met Jesus?

The wise men had come from afar to worship Jesus.
How can people all over the world get to know about Jesus today?

Craft
Make a gift of a mince pie wrapped in cellophane with ribbon and Bible promise gift tag from last week.

Week 3 Story Title is: "God Comes to Simeon and Anna"

Simeon and Anna had been waiting on God and were excited because Jesus had arrived.

Bible Story comes from Luke 2 v22-28 and v36-38
Draw the Story from Splash 12 p 71

Session 2:

Session 3:

Session 4:

In September the theme was Prayer:

"How To Pray"

The verse for the story is Luke 11:9 which is:-

"So I say to you, Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you."
Luke 11:9

How do we start our prayer?

We start with God's Name. Three of the Names that God is known by are:
God, Jesus, Heavenly Father, so we begin Dear God, Dear Jesus, or Dear Heavenly Father.

Then we move on to pray and we will use the following way to pray:

Praise (things we want to thank God for)
Regrets (things we want to say sorry to God for)
Ask (things we want to ask God for)
Yourself (things we want to talk to God about)

To finish our prayer we say Amen

Craft

Our craft last month was to make a Prayer Pot. This is made out of clay. Begin by making the pot shape and by the end of the month paint and decorate it.
